New production facility for Ultra Electronics Card Systems
Due to a sustained growth in sales, Ultra Electronics Card Systems has invested in a major new production facility for its Magicard ID card printers. Built as a new mezzanine floor within the Weymouth, United Kingdom factory, the 4,000 sq. feet facility represents an investment of over £270,000 ($500,000). Peter Macfarlane, Chairman of parent company Ultra Electronics Holdings, opened the new facility, which is now in full operation.
Ray Coles, Managing Director of Ultra Electronics Card Systems, welcomed the new facility, “2004 has been a fantastic year for us, with sales of both printers and consumables hitting record levels in recent months. This new Magicard production area is not just about more space and capacity, but also means the introduction of new techniques like lean manufacturing and new quality systems, allowing us to continue to deliver on our promise of quick delivery, quality products, and the best support.”
In addition to the new production floor, 2004 has seen continued investments in a third PCB production line. The 65,000 sq. feet facility employs over 200 people.
Magicard secure ID card printers include the entry-level Opera and Avalon, the compact Alto, and the high-security, high-throughput Rio 2 and Tango 2 models, as well as the top-of-the-range reverse transfer Prima. All printers feature advanced card security options.
