Drivers licenses mandate high levels of visual and electronic security. Visual security is important as drivers licences are often used as general ID cards for retail purchases, travel and homeland security. Electronic security, in the form of user data held on the card, securely identifies individuals to prevent fraudulent use. Magicard printers like the Rio Pro or and Prima 4 offer Custom HoloKote watermarks or holographic laminates, with optional smart card encoders.
Magicard ID card printers support a wide range of card encoding in the printer.
Mag stripe: A dual coercivity HiCo/LoCo magnetic stripe encoder option which offers encoding on all three tracks with complete user format flexibility.
Chip contact: Optional ISO 7816 internal smart card chip encoding contact station can be combined with the magnetic stripe encoder option (Specify/MS).
Contactless: Various contactless smart card encoding options are available: Mifare, iClass, Inside Technologies, Desfire options available.
Combi: Combi encoding (contact chip, Mifare, Desfire and iClass) is supported by all Magicard printers
Standard or Custom holographic laminates are available for the Prima 4, for visual security combined with card protection. Standard holographic laminates provide attractive security features without the setup cost. For highest security, special order laminates can include features such as holograms, micro text, and color changing images.
The patented Magicard HoloKote anti-forgery card protection eliminates the threat from fake IDs. HoloKote is an anti-copying watermark printed across the entire card surface. When the card is viewed at an angle, the HoloKote watermark provides visual authentication. There is no additional cost involved in printing HoloKote cards.
Duplex printing for convenient one-stop issuance of double-sided cards, and for batch printing applications.
The high security Rio Pro prints top quality images and offers customers an option for fully customizable HoloKote watermark protection.
The Prima 4 uses reverse-transfer technology. Its key advantages are high print quality, the ability to print on myriad card types and increased abrasion resistance.
