Clever uses of cards in membership sports clubs go well beyond simple access control and membership identification. Loyalty schemes drive retention of existing members and promotional schemes encourage members to refer friends and colleagues. Cards used to book facilities, track the popularity and use of different sports and classes, unlock a wealth of important and useful data.
Photo ID badges provide a basic level of card security and identity information.
Magnetic stripe cards can store information. The data is updateable.
Smart cards can store and transfer a significant amount of information, including biometrics.
Proximity cards are widely used in access control applications, giving keyless convenience.
Extra Security at no extra cost
The patented Magicard HoloKote® anti-forgery card protection eliminates the threat from fake IDs.
HoloKote is an anti-copying watermark printed across the entire card surface. When the card is tilted, the HoloKote watermark provides visual authentication. There is no additional cost involved in printing HoloKote cards.
How HoloKote is printed onto the card.
Color cards are printed using a thermal transfer YMCKO dye film. After the color image has been printed onto the card, the clear Overcoat panel is applied to protect the image from fading or scratching. Magicard’s thermal transfer printer models have a unique facility called HoloKote for frosting a security watermark into the clear overcoat during the print process. This is a patented feature and unlike most other security logos, it involves no extra cost of printing.
Available on all Magicard printers (except the Prima), the built-in HoloKote watermark is a user option controlled by driver settings.
Custom HoloKote and HoloKote FLEX watermarks can be ordered separately for use with our professional series, Rio 2e, Tango 2e and Tango L secure ID card printers.

Lamination is used to protect the card from wear and fading of the image, mainly for cards which are used frequently or in outdoor environments.
There are two types of lamination materials : thin holographic Overlays and Patch laminates. Patch provides a thick protection layer on the card and is not quite edge-to-edge. Patch laminates area available in either clear or holographic variants. Overlay provides a thin protection layer (not suitable for heavy long-term use such as cards which are swiped a lot), but is fully edge-to-edge; it is always provided with a holographic design.
Both types can of course be provided in either standard or custom designs. Custom designs provide the ultimate in visual security.
There are extensive options when it comes to laminates, so please talk to your Magicard account manager and they will help you to specify the correct product.
