Ultra Electronics Card Systems opens new high tech. Weymouth facility and is presented with Queen’s Award by Lord Lieutenant of Dorset

Ultra Electronics in Weymouth is celebrating today (19th July) after staging a double-event with the official opening of its new high-technology Magicard printer design facility in Weymouth and also the presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset in a garden party setting within Bennett’s Water Gardens in Chickerell.

Full Environmental Compliance for Magicard printers

RoHS (Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) is an EU directive which has been turned into law in most EU member states, and which stipulates that all applicable products must be compliant by 1 July 2006. The RoHS Regulations ban the placing on the EU market of products containing more than the set levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, and other hazardous materials. The effect of RoHS is that products that do not conform cannot legally be sold in the EU after 1 July 2006.

New production facility for Ultra Electronics Card Systems

Due to a sustained growth in sales, Ultra Electronics Card Systems has invested in a major new production facility for its Magicard ID card printers. Built as a new mezzanine floor within the Weymouth, United Kingdom factory, the 4,000 sq. feet facility represents an investment of over £270,000 ($500,000). Peter Macfarlane, Chairman of parent company Ultra Electronics Holdings, opened the new facility, which is now in full operation.

The Magicard Avalon is the new entry level ID badge printer from Ultra Electronics Card Systems.

Magicard printers are the only brand that automatically prints an anti card-copying watermark onto the card during the print cycle. It costs nothing to print the Holokote™ watermark – standard dye film ribbons are used to print on standard CR80-sized PVC cards.
